Skill and min-max: DOS1 is FAR polished than DOS2. In DOS2 the story is far better, interaction with characters, their own story, etc. It's like everything have to mess with your abilities accounting character statistics. Story: DOS1 - straightforward and linear, your actions only matter to gain traits (being forgiving with your actions gives you immune to fear, while being merciful gives you 20% chance to hit on attacks of opportunity).

Not even going to point out some stupid scaling DOS2 have making the game even more easy. In DOS2 you're basically safe 100% of the time if you manage your armors because they make you immune to status, so building your character is more relevant in DOS1 by far. I'm not going to dare and say which one is better because it's on you, but saying DOS2 has better skill and combat system than DOS1, I sure have doubts about this.Ĭombat: DOS1 - RNG based chance to hit (ranged except casters and melee), RNG to apply and resist CC, making the game more challenging and less predictable.
